Kentaro Machida conducts us in a programme of Mozart’s Magic Flute Overture, Mozart’s Horn Concerto no 4 and Schubert’s 9th Symphony ‘The Great’.
Kentaro Machida is a Japanese conductor and organist and a recent first-class graduate of the University of Oxford He was senior organ scholar at Merton College, accompanying the college’s renowned mixed-voice choir in their BBC broadcasts, CD recordings, and UK and international tours.
Our soloist is Zoe Tweed, studied at the Royal Academy of Music for both her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and is now a busy freelance Horn player.
She is on trial for Principal Horn with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and performs with various orchestras across the UK including working as Guest Principal with the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Philharmonia Orchestra. Zoë is interested in a range of musical styles and genres and is an avid chamber musician, having both written and arranged works for brass and wind quintet. She is also involved in recording sessions for TV and Film and as a Munster Trust Recital Artist, she hosts solo recitals around the country.
